Frosty and I will be there. We will stay so we'll drive up and meet you all there.

I just rode the train yesterday.  So relaxing!  Let me give you some info on time, which may allow you options.  We left the downtown station at 9:35. Arrived Santa Fe 11:15.  There is a free shuttle service that will take you to all notable sites, but no time schedule is available. I am told they estimate every 15 minutes,  but traffic probably affects their timing.  The first train to leave for ABQ is 4:15, arrive about 6pm so you need to plan for this trip to be all day.  We went to the Capital for their art and ate in the area and had dessert at Tomasita's before boarding for home.  Long day, but so worth it.  The train ride home allowed for rest and recap of the day.

So good to know.  I overlooked that!  A good lunch and a relaxing ride back...what could be better!

Check out the video of KOB's Pay It Forward segment this week. Jewel Glavey is paying it forward to Jane Haagensen who runs a clothing and food bank for students at Highland.

Dear Classmates,

I will not be attending the Nov. luncheon in Santa Fe. Sounds like alot of fun but may just be too much for me at this.time.

On November 9th, Bob took to the emergency room where i spent four days in the hospital and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and pneumonia. They said CHF was caused by stress and grief. We had just returned from a cruise from New York to Montreal. Prior to that i had spent many days helping my sister-in-law downsize from 2000 sq. ft. to 575 sq.ft. following my brothers passing. I guess it caught up with me. I am now on the mend but it is slow and my stamina is comprimised.

I will miss seeing all of you but will look forward to the December get-together.

Marcy

Marcy, I am glad you are recovering!  But your comment brought up a misunderstanding. Our regular birthday luncheon will still be on the 2nd Monday of Nov.  This Santa Fe trip is a bonus get-together!  I will be so glad to see you in December.  Thanks for making us aware.

Have fun on the Santa Fe trip. Sorry I will miss this trip.

I won't be able to make the trrain trip in Nov. but hope to make the Nov, luncheon.

Before choosing a site for lunch on November 11 be aware that many restaurants offer free veteran's day lunch and they can be very crowded. A locally owned place might be a good choice since all the families of veterans usually go to the big chains for specials.

I would suggest Corrales Village Pizza on Nov 11th.  Salad, Soup and Pizza buffet with senior discount $7.50.  all you can eat.  Very good.  Back room has long tables seating about 12 each and if we get there early would have no trouble getting them.  Opens at 11 but gets busy about 12.  If we started at 11 or 11:45 we would have not trouble.  About 2 miles into Corrales from Alameda intersection on the right.  I would even come. (that may limit the participation significantly)

Thanks for the suggestion, Steve!  The NOV. BIRTHDAY LUNCH will be MONDAY, NOV. 11 at 1:00 at Village Pizza on 4266 Corrales Rd., (not the Coors location).  Their website, villagepizzanm.com, shows their menu and has a map---most helpful--and appetizing!  I will call in our numbers on that morning, so RSVP here or to me privately.  Hopefully some westsiders will enjoy a shorter drive! And others will "have an excursion"!

i hope others are still considering the bonus gathering in Santa Fe on Weds. Nov 6 at Tomasita's, 11:30. Chime in if you can go!

I know Robin liked to avoid the lunch rush by meeting at 1pm but I like Steve's idea of an earlier time. The staff would be less stressed from the lunch hour and it's possible that the food would also be fresher and fewer items might be sold out. On a selfish note I usually eat my lunch at 11am.

I will never get invited again.  The advantage of an 11-11:15 start is that we will have the place to ourselves for a while and all pizzas fresh and can have the pick of the place for tables.  If nice weather there are big tables in the patio unter the cottonwoods or if cold, big sunny room with south facing windows is cozy.  It might be too hard to change with the regulars used to 1 pm but earlier is probably better for cleanliness and less bodies.

Amen on that 11:00 lunch time.  I've been eating lunch at that time since I was first in the military and carried over to my career with the Police Dept.  Late lunches interfered with dinner.  A small group of us retired Cops meet for lunch once a month at 11:30.  After ordering we sit around and discuss our medical shortcomings and fixes to the problems then, afterwards, conversation turns to better things like kids, grand-kids, accomplishments and all that stuff; not to mention reminiscing about "back in the day"!  Good times had by all as I know the late luncher classmates have as well from reading the posts.

I appreciate your ideas, but I am going to keep to our normal time for November.  I, for one, have scheduled activities around our current 1:00 meeting time.  Certainly if a preponderance of attendees (or more who haven't been able to come) would let us know and would commit to a different standard time, future changes can be made.  I think we have had growing attendance because we have a set day and time, whatever that may become.  (However, the idea of taking a school vote does make me a little wiggly.)

I will attend the November lunch in Corrales.

Sorry, I won't be attending either November lunch dates.  Out of town.  See you in December.

I should be able to attend on the 11th.

I was looking forward to both lunch events in November but I'll be out of town for both. Enjoy

If anyone is interested in a trip to San Antonio (New Mexico) I'm putting together a trip to experience the Raptors like we did a few years ago. It will be on a Saturday ... maybe Nov. 30th if I get enough responses. Please email me directly at jgoffe20@comcast.net. Thanks
