Thomas Gray Banks was born 2 January 1945 in Washington, D.C. to Thomas Gray Banks Junior and Lucile Banks and was the youngest with two older sisters Mary Coulter and Betty Lisle. Tom spent his teenage years in Albuquerque and graduated from Highland High School and graduated with honors from University of New Mexico with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and moved to Austin, TX to work on a master's at UT Austin where he fell in love with his wife Nancy Banks. Tom joined the Air Force in 1969 and continued his service as a civilian working as DOD Frequency Coordinator and retired at White Sands Missile Range.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors, bike riding, birdwatching and travelling. Tom and Nancy travelled on the Rhine River, visited Scandinavia, China and Italy during his retirement as well throughout the United States in his RV. Tom was a member of the Mesilla Valley RV Club, NARFE, Mesilla Valley Ham Radio Club (K5WYY), TESLA and was an active member of his church. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Thomas Gray Banks III, passed away Friday February 2, 2018. Tom is survived by his wife Nancy Banks of forty-eight years, daughter April Banks, three grandchildren Katherine, Ashton and Tylor and his sister Mary.
