In Loving Memory of Sylvia Lea Hossom Schafer May 28, 1945 – May 19, 2025
Sylvia Schafer (Hossom), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 19 at the age of 79.
Born on May 28, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sylvia dedicated her life to caring for others—both in her personal and professional life. She was the heart and anchor of our family, raising three children with love, humor, patience, and unwavering strength.
Sylvia began her career as a nurse, bringing compassion and comfort to those in need. She later worked alongside her husband, Dale, in the family business. After her children had grown, she concluded her professional journey as an Executive Administrative Assistant at New York Life, where she was known for her sharp mind, integrity, diligence, and warmth.
Affectionately known as “Bobo,” Sylvia will be remembered for the love she poured into every role she held—especially as a devoted wife, nurturing mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend. Her generosity, grace, and gregarious sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Dale. Sylvia is survived by her children, Darby, Ken, and Leslie; her seven grandchildren—Tyler, Zane, and Nora (Darby); Kesic and Cadre (Ken); Alisha and Aubrey (Leslie); and her great-grandchildren, Miles and Haley (Tyler). Her legacy of love, joy, and laughter will live on through them and all who were blessed to know her.
Sylvia “Bobo” will be dearly missed, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with Dale once again.
