Folks, our November lunch venue is the Bosque Brewing Company at 5210 Eubank NE 1pm, this Monday, Nov. 11. Note that this is the one located near Spain and Eubank in the Promenade Shopping Mall. Their special feature is a free soda and side salad or fries with their Classic menu. If you have a Nov. birthday and plan to come, let me know. RSVP here. ( I apologize that no pictures are accompanying this announcement. My phone was updated, but my brain was not. I’m still trying to find them, saved/safe and sound…somewhere! Erghh!)

Tom Rutherford was with us at Highland but I think class of 64.

He served as a State Senator for many years. A real power broker.

He died yesterday in a nursing home after 4 years of severe Alzheimer's disease

For many years he was the voice of Ballon Fiesta

I also had him for Latin and remember him telling us how to pronounce Latin based on modern Italian. His class was a great basis for the other languages I have studied.

I remember him running a tight study hall in the cafeteria. Always reading a book and roaming the isles making sure everyone was busy with their studies. He once noticed the grease stains I had on my hands and under my nails on one lap around the study hall. "Working on your car?" "Yes!" That was the only time I ever had a "conversation" with him. He was a strict disciplinarian. I respected that.

Our December destination for lunch is Dave’s Valley Grill, this coming Monday, 12/9, at 1pm. Dave’s is at 6601 4th St NW at Osuna. We’ve enjoyed their fine menu that seems to meet everyone’s taste! If you are a December baby, let me know. This is the place to RSVP!
