John, I watched this video and debated about putting it on my already lengthy letter.  It is well worth the 4 minutes!  So glad you posted it!!

It is fun to hear from a distance about all your gatherings.

I have to share a something from my husband's invitation to his 60th high school reunion.  It suggested in all seriousness that we notify our caregivers in advance so they can schedule.  We had a good humorous exchange.  Most fortunately at this point we don't have caregivers and are doing very well both physically and mentally.  We recently spent three years helping in a rest home and know how grateful we should be and are.

Please enjoy each year/month/week/day/hour you have left.

I have so many memories of those amazing years.

Just a brief note in memory...Terry Stone, '64, passed away in early July after a long bout with kidney disease. You might remember him from our football team.

I will be posting tomorrow about our lunch site for Monday, August 8, at 11:00.  Remember we will have 2 Arizonans attending, eagerly anticipating familiar faces!

HHS LUNCH AUGUST 9, MONDAY, 11AM  We are going to meet on the West side this month at Mariposa Basin  Park, 4900 Kachina St.NW, 87120.  It sounds quite delightful with 3 walking trail loops around ponds, a draw for birdwatchers, plus playgrounds and sports fields. I understand that ramps and bathrooms are available too!

We are going to stake our a spot on the "road less travelled", and Sandy Stewart Smallwood or I will direct you from the parking lot.  BYO chair and food.  I will bring M&M's and my 20th Reunion book if anyone wants to stroll down memory lane.  It would help if you RSVP here so we can find a space that fits our needs. Let's have a big gathering while we can!!

Hope there will be some surprise attendees tomorrow.  These are almost mini reunions, so take advantage while the price is right! Seize the day and all that stuff!

As I entered Mariposa Basin Park for our August birthday lunch, two flocks of Canada geese in v-formation settled on the park's pond.  Sandy Stewart Smallwood had found a shaded grassy knoll, and soon others trickled in.  The surprise guest of the day was Linda Nichols who had come to see her out-of-town friends Adele Parker Verkamp and Karen White.  Betty Myers Schaefer and John (and her sister Susan) had also traveled quite a distance to be here.  That's 1/3 of our group who made the trek!  Susan Thompson also spent quite a bit of time in her car--searching for us who were not readily visible (quite frustrating), but, true to form, she arrived with a smile, and relief, on her face.  Gloria Ruiz Santana and Joe as well as Steve Brooks made an even dozen!  I heard that Neal was meeting in AZ with other alums--minus 2!  I hope we hear from them soon.  We missed those of you who were unable to make it, so here are a few pictures of what you missed.  Hopefully you can join other 76'ers on Monday, Sept. 13.  Plans are in the making..

Thanks for the pictures.  Can anyone add names to the pictures of the recent picnic?

Everyone is mentioned in the article.  Clue:  Wives are seated beside husbands who aren't classmates. Betty's sister has red hair.  ....how're you doing now?  This is a tease to get you to come.

Thanks for the picture IDs, Martha..  We are fine here in California except that the state is on fire and the virus is also raging..  This doesn't affect us much but it is sad ... I wonder if we will ever return to the "Good Ol' Days."

This idea of getting on an airplane doesn't appeal much these days.. So glad we traveled when we did..

Greetings to you all ..

Sara

Travelling is NOT the same. I too am glad we made memories when we did.  However, should you decide to come east, think about the 2nd Monday's of a month.  They are becoming mini reunions for me. I'm glad you are doing well despite the state of your state!
