Sorry I missed lunch. I got stuck in line at the MVD and Connie was recovering from a power outage. Next month for sure. Thanks Betty for the heads up on the early reunion. Mystery solved!

The Highland band is having a car wash at Jim's Automotive at the corner of Washington and Zuni tomorrow, Saturday August 13.

Saturday, August 27, 8:30AM is the Highland Band Marchathon at Hyder Park. We'll sing the fight song with the band on the west side of the park. The car wash was packed and our car looks great! The band survived the pandemic by virtual learning which included music games and the students who stuck with it are the really committed ones. Ms G is now on her 11th year and says it's the best one yet.

The band meets at 8:30 at Bandelier Elementary but doesn't step off until 9:30. We provide donuts from Donut Mart in honor of Robin who always insisted on supporting local businesses.

I will be there after 9.  I've met someone new every time we've done this!  Hats off to Robyn and now to Rhonda for keeping it going!

The Marchathon was a success again this year, raising $4300. When the band showed up at our spot in the park they played the fight song for the 7 of us gathered there. Marty brought a friend from the neighborhood and 2 other folks who graduated from Highland after we did showed up, one with her son who currently attends. A jolly time was had by all.

The band marchathon can be seen on the KOB news. Our small group of alumni are right there 👍

We lost our classmate, Jerry Goffe, today.  I do not know the details but Marty Farmer called to ask me to let the class know.  Jerry was a wonderful wildlife photographer and he graced us with his beautiful photographs here.   Not only was he a wonderful photographer but a wonderful person too and I will miss him greatly.  This is a photo he posted this summer on his Facebook page which won first prize out of 8,500 entries.  Thank you, Jerry, for sharing your talent with us and so many others.

Rest in Peace Jerry. Thanks for all of your photos that you shared with us. Also taking us to the San Antonio, NM area to view the hawks in flight a few years back.

I didn't know Jerry very well. I do remember our trip to the Bio Park and he took us to the butterfly enclosure amd it was great. May his soul rest in peace.

A sad day for our class as we lose another of the extraordinary members of a remarkable group of individuals. Jerry gave us wonderful insights into the world of wildlife with his photos.

I'm so sad to hear of Jerry's passing. I loved his photographs and love of nature. Will there be a service for him?     I will miss him.

This was posted by Jerry's daughter.

"Jerry's funeral will be Thursday September 8, 2022 at 10am at Fairview Cemetery in the Cingregation Albert section.  We recommend bringing umbrellas for sun coverage and parking in the main cemetery area.  A Celebration of life will follow at the JCC off Wyoming."

I am heavy-hearted at both Jerry's and Craig Dear's passings.  I so enjoyed their friendships in the past ten years, not having known them before the 50th.  Craig's wife also passed away last week from a broken heart. . (Craig's and now Julie's memorial service will be September 24 in Woodbury, NJ.). Tears and sympathy for both families

My apologies for not giving you a proper lunch notice, but I was preparing for and travelling to Alaska. Frankly, I made reservations and then forgot to notify you!  Reservations have been made for Dave's Valley Grill  for September 12, THIS MONDAY! at 1pm.  It is our usual time and day so I hope many of you had reserved the spot on your calendars.
Dave's has become one of our favored restaurants with a delicious and varied menu.  The address is 6601 4th St NW, where Osuna T's into 4th St.  I am unable to post pictures from last month's lunch where almost 30 people met at Saggios's.  I hope this will be a repeat of the fun!  Please RSVP HERE  so I can give a count to the restaurant.  Bon appetit!!!
